Τζένη Μαρκέτου

Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα, είναι multidisciplinary καλλιτέχνιδα, εκπαιδευτικός και ερευνήτρια που ζει και εργάζεται στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου διδάσκει New Media Art and Social Engagement στο New School for Social Research. Έχει διδάξει και έχει δώσει διαλέξεις στο Cal Arts, Cooper Union School of Art, SVA, Pratt Institute,  Apex Art και Columbia University, μεταξύ άλλων.

Πρόσφατα τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο του CITI Arts Corps Grants, της  Nέας Yόρκης (2021), ενώ είναι Artιst in Residence στο SwaleLab  στο Governors Island στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου κάνει επιτόπια καλλιτεχνική έρευνα στους υδάτινους δρόμους (water ways ) της Νέας Υόρκης, για το διεπιστημονικό της υπό εξέλιξη έργο και ταινία με τίτλο RIVERING as a Decolonial Possibility. Παράλληλα προετοιμάζει κι ένα συνοδευτικό κομμάτι με τίτλο Wet Gatherings το οποίο συνίσταται από μια δημόσια συγκέντρωση προφορικού λόγου με καλλιτέχνες, ποιητές, ακτιβιστές, μέλη από νεολαίες και επικεφαλής κοινοτήτων, σε πραγματικό χρόνο.

Το επερχόμενο διεπιστημονικό έργο με τίτλο Σοβαρά Παιχνίδια /Serious Games (2021) παρουσιάζεται στο Γιαλί Τζαμί Χανίων με ανάθεση από τη Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη Χανίων.

Jenny Marketou

Jenny Marketou born in Athens,Greece is a visual artist, educator, author based in New York where she teaches New Media Art and Social Engagement at the New School for Social Research. She has taught and given lectures, panels and/or workshops at Cal Arts, Cooper Union School of Art, SVA, Pratt Institute, Apex art and Columbia University among others.

She is the recipient of the CITI Arts Corps Grants, NY (2021)  and currently an artist in residence at SwaleLab House on Governors Island in New York where she is doing field work on the water ways for her interdisciplinary work-in-progress and  film project titled RIVERING as a Decolonial Possibility as well as a companion piece Wet Gatherings  a live spoken word public gathering with artists, poets, activist , youth and community organizers. Her upcoming multifaceted project titled Serious Games (2021)  will be presented at Kucuk Hasan Mosque better known as Yiali Tzami  commissioned by the Municipal Art Gallery in Chania ,Crete .
